The review

The Danforth has more Greek restaurants than it has parking spaces, and Messini is the one people actually go back to. It is a gyro counter with tables, and it has never pretended otherwise.

The pork gyro — spit-carved, into warm pita, chips tucked inside — is the order and the standard against which the rest of the street gets measured. The chicken souvlaki platter is the sit-down version. Loukoumades on the way out, always.

Honest notes: the room is basic, the seating is basic, and after last call it becomes an entirely different and much busier place. None of that matters at $12 a head.
