The review

Malaysian food in Toronto is scattered and inconsistent, and Kim Kim is one of the few places where the wok is used hard enough for it to matter. It is a plaza room on Sheppard East and there is nothing else to say about the setting.

Hokkien mee is the order: dark, smoky, heavy with pork fat, and the dish that made the room's reputation. Sambal green beans should go on the table alongside whatever else you get. Roti canai to start, torn by hand, with curry for dipping.

Honest notes: the room has no atmosphere at all, it is closed on Tuesdays, and the popular dishes sell out at weekend dinner. Go on a Thursday and order the sambal with everything.
