Preserved Egg & Pork Congee皮蛋瘦肉粥
The default, and the one to measure the kitchen by.

王記粥
Late-night Cantonese in Scarborough, and the congee is still the right call
Congee Wong does what a Hong Kong-style café is supposed to do: congee, noodle soup, rice plates, all night, all cheap. It is not trying to be a destination and that is precisely its use.
Preserved egg and pork congee is the default and the measure — the rice should have broken down completely, and here it has. Beef brisket noodle soup is the other reliable order, with brisket that has been cooked rather than boiled. Baked pork chop rice is the café classic, served without a hint of irony.
Honest notes: service is functional, the room is bright and plain, and quality does vary with the hour. At 12:30am none of that is a serious objection.
The default, and the one to measure the kitchen by.
Slow-cooked brisket, clean broth, no shortcuts.
The Hong Kong café classic, done without irony.
Preserved egg congee or brisket noodles, late. Cheap and dependable.
