The takeout dish, taken seriously. Crisp, sticky, properly hot.

Punk-rock Chinese-Canadian cooking that treats the classics as a starting point
Sunny's takes the dishes Chinese-Canadian takeout has been quietly serving for fifty years and cooks them like they matter, which turns out to be all they ever needed. Nothing here is a deconstruction; it is just better.
Crispy chilli beef is the obvious start and the correct one — crisp, sticky, and hot in a way the takeout version never is. Mapo tofu is numbing rather than merely spicy, which is the entire difference between the dish being good and being nothing. Salt-and-pepper squid rounds it out.
Honest notes: the room is small, so book. The music is loud and that is not an accident. It is closed at the top of the week. Go with three people and order across the menu.

The version that reminds you why the dish exists.
Chilli beef, mapo, squid, three people. Book — it is a small room.
