The review

Leslieville has cycled through a decade of brunch rooms and Lady Marmalade is still standing, which is the strongest recommendation available in a category defined by turnover.

Huevos rancheros is the order and has been since the beginning. The benedict is made with hollandaise built to order rather than held in a bain-marie all morning, which you can taste immediately. The vegan chorizo hash is good enough that it gets ordered by people who are not vegan.

Honest notes: weekend waits are long and there are no reservations at peak. The room is tight. Weekday brunch here is a completely different, much better experience.

What to order

Must order

Huevos Rancheros

The house order for fifteen years, and still the best thing on the menu.

Must order

Eggs Benedict

Hollandaise made to order, which is rarer than it should be.

Vegan Chorizo Hash

The dish that stops the vegan at your table resenting brunch.

vegetarian

  • Portions are generous

What doesn’t

  • Weekend waits are long

Verdict

Huevos rancheros, on a weekday. The benedict if someone else got there first.
