The review

Mimico did not have a proper coffee answer for a long time, and then it did. Birds and Beans roasts on site and sells shade-grown, bird-friendly beans — a sourcing standard that is genuinely rare and, more to the point, produces coffee worth drinking.

Order the filter if you want to taste what they are doing; the espresso is competent but the brewed coffee is where the roasting shows. Milk drinks are made properly. The pastry counter is small and local and turns over fast enough that nothing is ever sitting.

Honest notes: the room is small and fills on weekend mornings, the food is an accompaniment rather than a meal, and it shuts mid-afternoon. Take it for what it is — the best cup in south Etobicoke.
